Where your childhood fantasy of a super-soaker battle combined with your current dream of drenching yourself in Spanish wine comes true.

When you’re a grown-up, it’s less fun playing with bouncy balls, superhero costumes, and bathtub toys. But it doesn’t matter, because you can go to La Batalla Del Vino instead, where your childhood fantasy of a town-sized super-soaker battle combined with your current dream of drenching yourself in Spanish wine all-day long comes true. It’s purple, it’s sticky, it’s boozy, and it’s the most insane amount fun you can have after the age of 12. Leave the boring adult world behind and splash around at Spain’s most outrageous party!

We spend 3 days exploring Spain. We visit Haro.

3 Day Itinerary

La Batalla Del Vino 3 day itinerary

Day 1

Haro

Your adventure begins as you arrive into the Spanish town of Haro. After check-in, your guide will take you around the town as you gather your arsenal (wine, water pistols, and white clothes!) for the coming battle. Then, follow your guide on a tasty journey as you are taken on a delicious pinxtos crawl. Pinxtos are essentially the Basque regions answer to Tapas, tiny yet titillating. Have your fill of this authentic local fare! There is a palpable electricity in the air leading up to the battle tomorrow and as such the town is awash in activities this evening, party like a local with your fellow festival goers but save your energy for the battle to come.

Day 2

Haro

We have an early breakfast this morning to allow us time to arrive at the battlefield for our early start. On this morning, the day of the patron saint San Pedro, a procession is held through the streets before the vino splashing begins. Jugs, water pistols, and even buckets will be used in this free-for-all as the wine rains down upon the revellers. Once the dust has settled we join the locals for a delicious BBQ or take part in an authentic Spanish pastime: the siesta. Party like a local this evening with the continued festival activities in town.

Day 3

Haro

We check out after breakfast this morning. We hope to see you again, and if you’re continuing your journey on our Hop-on Hop-off network, the next stop is San Sebastian!
