The ultimate beer lovers experiences in Germany, Czech Republic and more
If you really want to soak up Europe’s beer culture, why not quite literally bathe in it? In Prague you can experience a whole other side to “beer appreciation” by bathing in a giant beer barrel filled with pilsner (also known as liquid gold) at The Original Beer Spa. You can tap your own beer as you bathe or step outside the tub and relax in a beer sauna with some locally made beer bread to top the experience off. While in Berlin, join a beer bike and pedal around as a group as you explore the sights of Berlin – ice cold stein in hand. There are plenty of beer tasting experiences if you’re interested in learning more about your favourite brews or pick up a pub crawl and meet some new drinking companions.
But don’t let Berlin fool you into thinking it’s the only German city blessed with the nectar of the gods. If Germany is the home of beer, then Munich is its heartbeat. The Bavarian capital has a beer culture unrivalled by anywhere else. Though Oktoberfest and free flowing booze may have been what brought you here, sights and experiences such as the Neuschwanstein Castle will make you stay longer. You can learn more about history on a visit to Dachau Memorial or join the Third Reich tour for a sobering, but necessary, understanding of war time Germany. If you have time, try surfing smack in the middle of Munich at Eisbach a small channel of the Isar River that runs through Munich's big, central park. Every day, hundreds of river shredders line up to surf the continuous, ice-cold wave that rolls through the channel all day long.
