Day 1
Athens to Delphi to Kalambaka
Get excited, it’s time to begin a jam-packed two-day adventure exploring some of the most magical sites in Greece! Meet your guide bright and early at the hostel’s reception and hop aboard the private coach with your fellow Busabouters. Around mid-morning we’ll arrive at our first stop, the heart of the ancient Greek world, Delphi! With our included local guide, we’ll walk along the sacred way to the Temple of Apollo–passing the Castalian springs – then marvel at the Temple of Pronea across the valley of Delphi. Head into the museum to further bring to life your ancient surroundings - entrance is included! You’ll then have some time to grab lunch before we hop back on the coach and journey north to Kalambaka. Along the way your guide will tell more tales of crazy mythology, legends and the battles of ancient Greece. This evening we’ll arrive in Kalambaka just in time to head out for an optional dinner with your new Busabout buddies at a local taverna. Cheers to an epic first day of exploring and enjoy the anticipation of tomorrow’s spectacle once the sun rises over the magical landscape.
Day 2
Kalambaka to Athens
Rise and shine, we have another epic day of adventure ahead. Fill up on breakfast before we meet our local guide and board the coach. Get excited because today we’re heading for the magical cliff-top monasteries of Meteora! Our local guide will tell us the myths and history about this unique and enchanting landscape. We’ll visit two of the most important monasteries perched high on top of incredible rocky formations, famous for their Byzantine frescoes and spectacular views. We’ll make the most of the spectacular surroundings by finishing with an hour-long scenic hike (bring appropriate footwear!), descending from Meteora back to Kalambaka. After working up an appetite you’ll have some free time for a well-deserved lunch in Kalambaka, before we drive south to our next stop in Thermopylae. Here, the statue of Leonidas stands to commemorate the heroic defence of the Spartans against the Persians. Then it’s time to return to Athens and say our farewells.
